Positive Attitude for Longer Life

Wouldn't you rather choose to be happy?  A positive attitude not only improves your mood, can also lengthen your life, decreasing major health concerns. Harvard School of Public Health researchers have determined that optimistic individuals were approximately 50% less likely to experience an initial cardiovascular event compared to their pessimistic individuals.

We've listed below FIVE TIPS FOR RESETTING A POSITIVE FRAME.

At Audacious Health we frequently observe the relationship between one's feelings and levels of stress and its impact to health.

5 Tips for Starting a Winter Day

5 Tips for Starting a Winter Day

Well.  Winter is here and I’ll not go on about the cold.  Needless to say warming, nourishing foods are the go.  Rest is recommended.  Chinese Medicine says wearing a singlet (camisole for the feminine fashionistas) will help to keep your kidneys warm and it’s what my Mum always said so it must be true.

But what about the emotional aspects of Winter?  Shorter days, less warmth and less sunlight can create a challenging situation….

Living Life on Purpose?

It sometimes seems to me that there are two distinct ways to live life.

  1. Unconsciously:  living life as dealt to you
  2. Consciously:  Living life as a choice

Now I'm not talking about ambitiously driving ourselves forward (bit of a liver issue perhaps in Chinese Medicine).  Simply are you living life in neutral or are you going somewhere on purpose.

I once read an interesting statement "We all need a compelling reason to live.  It doesn't matter so much what that reason is.

2016 Christmas Compassion and Joy Calendar

Christmas is nigh.  Of course these days we are aware that Christmas means many different things to many different people.

Nonetheless we are always keen to celebrate and will be offering a small gift with each treatment in December just to say thank you for being the great clients you are!

I've attached my 25 days of Christmas calendar that has a task for each day to get us into the habit of compassion and joy.

Rest... Essential or nice to have

Rest is often seen as an 'additional extra' in our modern world.  But is it?

Many essential body and mental healing processes only occur during rest..

But isn't sleeping enough?  Sleeping is important but sleeping isn't rest and rest isn't sleeping..

Examples of activities you might find restful:

  • Reading a book for entertainment
  • Surfing
  • Fishing
  • Gardening
  • Walking (with our without your dog)
  • Writing
  • Watching a sunrise or sunset

Resting activities are proving to have similar benefits to meditation for our health.

Things to do to support yourself in Autumn (and pep up your Lungs and Large Intestine)

In Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners long ago observed the relationship between the seasons and the conditions they would see in clients.  This observation evolved into a system of advice for the seasons to support the specific needs associated with that season.

Autumn in Traditional Chinese Medicine is related to the energy of the Lungs and Large Intestine.

How do you know if there is something going on with your Lungs and Large Intestine energy?

  • The lungs and the large intestine are a major pathway of elimination and related to a healthy immune system.

Chronic Happiness

Chronic Happiness?

We often hear discussion of chronic pain, chronic illness or chronic fatigue in the media.  What about chronic happiness?

Can happiness become automatic?  In the past I've heard that any practice maintained for 21 days becomes a habit - good or bad.

So if we move our focus to happiness for 21 days can happiness become chronic.  The research seems to indicate so.

So how do we do 21 days of happiness.  Here's some ideas:

  • Look after the basics - eat foods that support you, be adequately hydrated, address any physical issues such as pain, tension.
